Communications Coordinator, Syracuse University Libraries (Syracuse, NY)

Reporting to the Director of Strategic Marketing & Communications (DSMC), the Communications Coordinator is primarily responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of strategic and targeted communication initiatives for the Library, and brand management activities designed to highlight and profile the Library to both external and internal audiences.The Communications Coordinator provides communications support to the Director and other senior administrative staff of the Library.

• Bachelor’s degree in communications design, PR, or related field required;

• Master’s degree preferred.

• Minimum 3 years of experience.

• Experience with web communications tools such as web sites, e-mail lists, and blogs.

• Experience promoting programs, events, and services of a large, complex organization.

• Design/manage/update a suite of forms/templates for communication; ensure that all marketing and communications meet accessibility standards.

• Field staff requests for communication and marketing such as announcements, event publicity requests, email blasts and digital signage; coordinate with the Director of Strategic Marketing and Communications to ensure the most appropriate medium is used for publicity and widespread messaging.

• Manage a photo collection for the Libraries, identifying appropriate images for marketing use, and coordinating photography when necessary.

• Engage with the library’s social media teams to maintain a consistent presence and interact with constituents. Coordinate regular updates to websites at the direction of the Director of Strategic Marketing and Communications.

• Provide some on-campus events support as assigned, for alumni relations and other similar activities.

• Coordinate and track the creation of event invitations, postcards, programs, brochures, electronic newsletters, email blasts, advertisements, digital displays, posters and promotional giveaway items.

• Create content for various media and arrange for production as appropriate, including: website content, news stories, social media, videos, digital signage, brochures, annual reports, newsletters, holiday cards, letters, and other materials.
